A double-breasted coat in a deep olive green, with lapels cut wide enough to sit properly open across the collarbone. Two rows of buttons close the front with a real overlap across the chest instead of meeting edge to edge, which is what stops the wind finding a way in. The line runs straight from the shoulder down to just below the knee with no seam at the waist to break it.

The cuffs turn back and hold their fold, shortening the sleeve a little and giving the arm some shape. Welt pockets are set at the hip on a slight angle and are deep enough to keep your hands in properly. The olive is dark enough to behave like a neutral but sits warmer against the skin than black or navy do, which is most of the reason this is the coat that gets picked up on an ordinary morning.
